VI VIM VIMtutor
June 6, 2024
Short story:
I can use VI and VIM now and it only took me 20 minutes to learn. type: vimtutor in a Linux command prompt and go through it.
Long story:
Scenario was going through a kk tutorial and VIM wasn’t installed nor was nano on one of the boxes. I showed my mentor real quick and he was explaining vim isn’t install natively and was giving me VI history.
VI and VIM has haunted my life for years as i am a nano guy and today i feel so stupid because vi makes so much sense especially for those who were computing before the gui. I asked perplexity what the best tutor is for VI and i found vimtutor I spent 20 minutes going through it you should give it a try and thank me later “nano guys”.
AI rewrite:
Excited to share that I can now use VI and VIM after just 20 minutes of learning! 👨💻🚀 Type ‘vimtutor’ in a Linux command prompt and give it a go. VI and VIM have been a mystery to me for years as a ‘nano guy’, but now it all makes sense, especially for those familiar with pre-GUI computing. Thanks to vimtutor, I quickly grasped the essentials – you should try it too! hashtag#Linux hashtag#VI hashtag#VIM hashtag#TechSkills
